SOLD - Swedish 1900s Turn of the Century Painted Wood Box with Raised Foliage Motif

SOLD - A Swedish turn of the century Period painted wood box from the early 20th century, with low-relief carved foliage, distressed finish and natural interior. Created in Sweden at the Turn of the Century which saw the transition between the 19th to the 20th, this painted box charms us with its understated presence and nicely distressed finish. A rectangular lid, adorned with a foliage motif carved in low-relief, opens to reveal an unfinished interior whose warm color contrasts beautifully with the outside's colder tones. The façade is simply accented with a delicate brass escutcheon. The box is painted in a soft color typical of the Scandinavian taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark winters of Sweden. With its clean lines and nicely aged appearance, this Swedish Turn of the Century decorative box circa 1900 will make for a lovely decorative addition to any home, perhaps displayed atop a console table, commode or buffet. The box showcases a nice rustic character. Please refer to the various additional photos for further condition detail.
