SOLD - Austrian 18th Century Oak Trunk with Domed Lid and Ornate Iron Hardware

SOLD - An Austrian oak trunk from the 18th century, with domed lid, ornate iron hardware and lateral handles. Created in Austria during the Habsburg Empire in the 18th century, this oak trunk features a rectangular silhouette topped by a domed lid. This hinged lid, adorned with ornate iron hardware, opens to reveal a partitioned interior made of open compartments and a closed box running underneath the upper tray on the right. This interior is fitted with a green velvet fabric secured with brass nailheads, contrasted to tartan style patterns. The façade echoes the lid's décor and the sides present C-scroll handles allowing the piece to be moved more easily. The back is, of course, more distressed than the other sides and the ensemble is resting on a thin molded plinth. With its great rustic character and brown and black colors, this Austrian oak trunk from the 18th century, will make for a wonderful decorative addition to any home, placed in a living room or bedroom!
