SOLD - Pair of French Louis XVI Period 1790s Painted Armchairs with Carved Ribbon

SOLD - A pair of French Louis XVI period carved and painted wooden armchairs from the late 18th century, with oval backs, ribbon carved crest, scrolling arms, fluted legs and old upholstery. Created in France during the turbulent last decade of the 18th century, each of this pair of armchairs features an oval back topped with a carved ribbon gracefully falling along the rail. This back is connected to two open arms showcasing scrolling extremities and in-curving supports. The chairs present a used fabric in fair condition adorned with foliage motifs. They are each raised on four straight legs with fluted motifs resting on elongated feet. The ensemble boasts a nicely weathered patina complimenting the Classical lines beautifully. With their Louis XVI lines and exquisitely carved décor, this pair of French Louis XVI period carved wooden armchairs circa 1790 will make for an excellent addition to any home, placed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
