SOLD: Swedish 19th Century Side Chair Circa 1890

SOLD: A Swedish painted wood dining room side chair from the late 19th century, with carved splats, tapering legs and black upholstery. Created in Sweden during the last decade of the 19th century, a painted chair features a pierced back topped with a curving rail securing a carved splat. The rectangular seat is covered with a black fabric adorned with discreet rose motifs. The chair is raised on four legs, fluted and tapering in the front and saber in the back. An H-Form stretcher and side stretcher in the back strengthen the ensemble. The chair is painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes, aiming at brightening the rooms during the dark winters of Scandinavia. With their clean lines and complimenting colors, this chair circa 1890 will make for a lovely addition to any home, particularly placed in a dining room or breakfast area.
