SOLD - French Directoire Period 1790s Walnut Commode from the Dauphiné Region

SOLD - A French Directoire period late 18th century solid walnut commode from the Dauphiné Region with three drawers, original bronze hardware, fluted side posts and tapered legs. Created in Southeastern France during the last decade of the 18th century, this Directoire commode is made of solid walnut. The commode features a narrow rectangular top sitting above three drawers fitted with their original bronze handles. The key and locks are in working condition. These drawers are flanked with fluted side posts. The sides present recessed panels and the back is, of course, unfinished. Please note the transport label in the back mentioning the recipient as the Road, Canal and Port Chief Engineer (the Ponts et Chaussées) of the Haute-Savoie département in the Alps! With its clean lines, its narrow depth and its nice patina, this French Directoire period Dauphine commode circa 1790 will make for a wonderful addition to any home, placed in a bedroom or living room.
