SOLD - Pair of Italian 19th Century Butterfly Veneer Burl Wood Four-Drawer Commodes

SOLD - A pair of Italian burl wood commodes from the 19th century with four drawers, butterfly veneer, reeded side posts and petite feet. Created in Italy during the 19th century, each of this pair of burl wood commodes features a rectangular top with rounded protruding corners in the front, sitting above four drawers (a narrow one followed by three larger ones). Adorned with butterfly veneer, the drawers are fitted with ornate hardware and showcase a dovetail construction revealing the commodes' age. The three lower drawers are flanked with thin baluster side posts adorned with both reeded and fluted motifs. The sides are veneered and the backs are, of course, unfinished. The commodes are raised on turned toupie feet creating a perfect conclusion for the ensemble. With their clean lines and burl wood finish, this pair of Italian four-drawer commodes from the 19th century will bring a touch of undeniable elegance to any home, perhaps displayed in a living room or in a bedroom.
