SOLD - French 1890s Walnut Oval Extension Dining Table with Five Leaves, Tapered Legs

SOLD - A French walnut oval extension dining room table from the late 19th century, with five leaves, tapered legs and casters. Created in France during the last decade of the 19th century, this dining room table features a walnut oval top showcasing lateral drop leaves and five removable ones (each measuring 19.75"W), resting on a rectangular apron. The ensemble is raised on eight elegant tapered legs resting on brass casters, allowing the table to be moved more easily. Once the leaves are removed, the table becomes a smaller table with drop leaves. French walnut comes from large trees which has the same or very similar grain, so it is possible for a good ebonist to match and accomplish any needed repairs at the same time thus adding to functionality for today’s dining table requirements. A long time ago we would have done this kind of improvement at our shop in Atlanta but have long since found this relationship a greater benefit for customers and us. We have been buying French extension tables for over three decades and have found that this expert ebonist, who we have worked with for at least twelve years, does a truly excellent job. We stand behind his work unconditionally.
