SOLD - French 1870s Hand-Crafted and Painted Majolica Barbotine Bouquet of Flowers

SOLD - A French hand-crafted and painted majolica barbotine bouquet of flowers from the second half of the 19th century. This French barbotine decorative bouquet was born in the later years of the Reign of Emperor Napoleon III, at a time when France lost its war against Prussia. This delicate piece features an exquisite décor of roses, alternating pink and yellow pastel colors. The barbotine technique allowed the artist to create an exuberant décor, typical of the barbotine production. The flowers seem indeed to be overflowing from their discreet wicker basket. The result is a beautifully decorative 1870s French piece, that will accentuate any table, chest-of-drawers or side table beautifully.
