SOLD - English 19th Century Oil Dog Painting After Landseer''''''''s Dignity and Impudence

SOLD - An English framed oil on canvas dog painting from the 19th century, after Sir Edwin Henry Landseer's 'Dignity and Impudence'. Created in England during the 19th century, this re-painting of Landseer's original titled 'Dignity and Impudence', depicts two dogs, a bloodhound and a West Highland terrier. The dogs are framed by a rustic wooden window (an inspiration due to the Dutch portrait tradition where an arm or a hand would be extending over the edge, while here the bloodhound's paws hang over the edge). Showcasing brown, white and red tones standing out beautifully on a black background, the painting is set inside a carved giltwood frame and is signed lower right. A perfect addition to any wall, hung above a console table, commode or credenza!
