SOLD: A French Louis XV style giltwood petite upholstered sofa from the mid-19th century. This small size French canapé features a giltwood frame showing the typical curvy lines of the Louis XV era. The crest is carved with a delicate floral motif accented with discreet acanthus leaves along the rail. The scrolled arms whose sides beautifully swell, lead the eye to the cabriole legs adorned with small flowers on the knees. The delicately scalloped skirt in the front is decorated with floral motifs, echoing on a larger scale the décor of the upper rail. The ensemble has been reupholstered in double welt cotton with a custom-made cushion. With its sinuous Louis XV style Silhouette and golden hue, this French sofa, circa 1860 will make a definite statement in any room.
