SOLD - A French Régence style carved wood canapé from the mid-19th century, with new upholstery. Created in France in the early years of Emperor Napoleon III's reign, this Régence style three-seat sofa features a slightly slanted camelback, flanked with two handsome open arms with scrolled extremities, partial upholstery on the top and carved scrolling foliage. The seat, presenting a custom cushion, is resting on six cabriole legs, decorated with C-scrolls and connected to one another through shell-carved aprons. The seat, back and upper arms have been recently reupholstered with a neutral colored double welt fabric complimenting the sinuous lines beautifully. With its richly carved motifs and graceful lines, this French 1850s Régence style sofa will bring an undeniable touch of elegance to any living room.
