Born at a time when France's first president was crowning himself Emperor Napoleon III, this French side table features the traits of the 17th century Louis XIII period, in a manner typical of the Second Empire that aimed at reviving the great styles of the past. The table features a rectangular tray top with canted corners, sitting above an apron presenting a single frieze drawer. The piece is raised on four exquisite turned legs, connected to one another through an H-form cross stretcher and resting on petite ball feet.
