SOLD - French 19th Century Carved Walnut Farinerio Decorative Box with Floral Décor

SOLD - A French Provençale carved walnut farinerio decorative box from the 19th century with floral motifs. This petite French box, called a fariniero, was intended to be used to coat fish, particularly sardines, with flour (farine means flour in French) before frying it. Presenting a bonnet-shaped crest topped with a medallion, the box is adorned with a vase with flowers, delicately hand-carved on the sliding door. The lower section of the box is adorned with a horizontal floral depiction that gives a perfect conclusion to the ensemble. With its small proportions and lovely carved walnut décor, this 19th century French farinerio will be a lovely decorative accent in any room, whether placed above a chest-of-drawers or desk, or hung on a wall.
