SOLD - French Seagrass Botanical Boards Dated 1885, with Black Frames and Glass

A collection of 15 French seagrass botanicals boards from the late 19th century, set inside black frames and glass, priced and sold individually. Each of these French botanicals reveals the care and patience someone took to collect and preserve the plants at the end of the 19th century. In great testimony to simpler times, these seagrass plants were picked up in the vicinity of the sea or the ocean. Marked on the lower right side as being the "herbier" (herbarium) of Ad. Chatin, Adeline handwrote the latin name of each specimen, at what date and where it was collected. With their black frames and protective glass, each of these French botanicals dated 1885 will make for a perfect decorative accent, perhaps placed as a grouping above a side table, sofa or buffet. Each frame is sold $295.
