Born in France during the later years of the 19th century, this decorative faïence basket features a grey ground, on which an exquisite colorful barbotine decor of fruits, flowers and foliage stands out beautifully. Delicate ivy wraps itself around the piece's large handle, accented with pastel campanule flowers that overflow on the piece's belly while the other side is adorned with mouthwatering fruits of orange and red colors. The ensemble is raised on a circular base. With its nice proportions and lovely barbotine décor, this French jardinière basket circa 1880 will bring a charming decorative touch to any home, perhaps placed above a buffet, chest-of-drawers or on a tabletop.
