SOLD - Pair of French Vases Médicis Stone Planters with Gadroon Motifs, circa 1890

A pair of French stone planters in the style of the vase Médicis, from the late 19th century. Each of this pair of stone planters features a chalice shape, typical of the original Medici vase kept at the Uffizi gallery in Florence. Inspired by the Greco-Roman production, chalice-shaped vases became particularly popular during the Renaissance era. Our pair of French 1890s stone planters are adorned with gadroon motifs accenting the splayed lips, rounded bodies and bases. Their large proportions and nicely weathered appearance will make them perfect to adorn any garden, patio or foyer. The diameter of the base is 12 inches.
