SOLD - Swedish Gustavian Style Painted Wood Round Side Table with Drawer, circa 1880

SOLD - A Swedish Gustavian style late 19th century painted wood round side table from the Skåne Province, with single drawer and tapered legs. Born in the Southernmost province of Skåne in Sweden, this painted side table features a circular top, sitting above a single fluted dovetailed drawer that opens thanks to a wooden pull. The table is raised on four splayed tapering legs, connected to one another through a delicately scalloped apron on all sides, creating a perfect harmonious continuity. The table is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening the homes during the long, dark winters of Sweden. The general simplicity of the lines, perfectly balanced by the sinuous shape of the apron and fluting of the drawer, will make this Swedish round side table, circa 1880 an excellent choice for any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or hallway.
