SOLD - Swedish Neoclassical Style 1900s Painted Extension Dining Table with Leaves

A Swedish oval neoclassical style painted extension dining room table from the early 20th century with three leaves and fluted legs. This exquisite Swedish long dining room table features an oval top, comprising three removable leaves that extend the table to great proportions. This simple top with rounded edges sits above a lovely apron presenting a perfect continuity on the leaves. The junction between the various leaves is delicately adorned with carved flowers that gently lead the eye along the apron without interruption. The table is raised on four cylindrical fluted legs with arrow feet, while two additional tapered legs strengthen the central section. Carved rosettes adorn the knees. Once the leaves are removed, the table turns into an elegant round centre table. This piece is painted in a light color typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes aiming at brightening the homes during the long, dark winters of Sweden. With its great versatility and clean lines, this Swedish oval dining room table circa 1900 will bring a graceful presence to any dining room.
