SOLD - A Swedish period Gustavian painted drop-front secretary from the early 19th century, with reeded doors and bronze mounts. This exquisite Swedish secretary features a slightly raised, rectangular top sitting above a drop-front desk, accented by bronze mounts on each sides, evoking a French Empire influence. The interior, painted in a dark green color, comprises multiple drawers and doors offering great storage options. Directly below the drop-front is a narrow pull-out drawer. The lower section of the secretary is adorned with a set of double doors with reeded motifs typical of the Gustavian era, each however highlighted by classical bronze faces set inside a diamond shape. The doors open to reveal three inner shelves, surmounted by a fourth arched one. The secretary is raised on four bracket feet. This piece is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes, aiming at brightening their homes during the long, dark winters.
