SOLD - Baroque Style 1840s Swedish Tall Secretary with Slant-Front Desk and Drawers

A Swedish painted wood Baroque style secretary with bonnet top, upper cabinet, slant-front desk, and lower drawers from the mid 19th century. This Swedish tall secretary features a bonnet-shaped beveled pediment, overhanging an upper cabinet made of two arched doors with carved panels. These doors open to reveal five inner shelves. The slant-front desk rests on two wooden pulls and comprises multiple hidden drawers, perfect to keep documents and stationary organized. The lower section is made of five drawers, two thin ones above three larger ones, adorned with beautiful Rococo hardware. The ensemble is raised on four bracket feet connected to one another with a slightly valanced skirt. The secretary is painted in an off-white / light grey color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for pastel palettes that brought more light into the homes during the long dark winters. With its clean lines, perfectly balanced by the delicate curves of the pediment and arched doors, along with the serene paint color, this Swedish Baroque style 1840s secretary will compliment any room beautifully, from a foyer to a living room to an office.
