SOLD - French 1770s Louis XVI Period Walnut Three-Drawer Commode with Fluted Side Posts

A French Louis XVI period walnut three-drawer commode from the second half of the 18th century, with rounded fluted side posts. This French three-drawer walnut commode was born in the early years of the short reign of King Louis XVI. The commode features a rectangular framed planked top with rounded corners, sitting above three simple yet elegant hand-cut dovetailed drawers. While the upper drawer is more narrow than the other two, they are all decorated in a same manner, with a central shield-shaped escutcheon flanked with two classical ring pulls and surrounded by an elegant frame. The rounded corners of the top accompany the shape of the fluted neoclassical side posts beautifully. The commode is raised on four cylindrical tapered legs. With its lovely patina and graceful Louis XVI lines, this French three-drawer walnut commode circa 1770 will bring a distinguished presence to any home, whether placed in a living room, bedroom or hallway.
