SOLD - Late 18th Century French Period Directoire Painted Trumeau Mirror with Campanula

A French late 18th century period Directoire painted and gilded trumeau mirror with original split mercury glass, campanula and waterleaves. This French trumeau mirror features a clean profile, typical of the Directoire period. Painted in a light color and beautifully highlighted by gilded accents, the mirror is topped with an overhanging cornice, that seems to set the stage to the two lovely "clochettes de campanule" (campanula) that fall on each side of the upper section of the mirror plate, leading the eye to the waterleaves below. The mirror plate is split into two sections, witnessing its nice age. The inner frame is gilded and adorned with delicate beads. With its timeless elegance and classical décor, this French Directoire trumeau mirror circa 1790 will enliven any space beautifully, perhaps placed above a console table, enfilade or buffet.
