SOLD - Swedish 1820s Neoclassical Period Upholstered Bench with Out-Scrolled Arms

A Swedish neoclassical period painted wood bench with new custom upholstery, out-scrolled open arms, carved skirt and tapered legs from the early 19th century. Born in Sweden during the 1820s, this backless bench features a silhouette typical of the neoclassical period. A rectangular seat, recovered with a new upholstery, is flanked with two out-scrolled arms, each delicately carved with floral motifs framing a central shell. Discreet acanthus leaves decorate the side posts. The fluting of the skirt that adorns the four sides of the bench is echoed on the tapered legs on which the piece is raised. With its graceful lines and soft color palette, typical of the Scandinavian taste for light colors, this Swedish neoclassical bench, circa 1820 will bring a discreet elegance to any room, from a bedroom to a living room.
