Created in France during the reign of King Louis XVI, this giltwood mirror captures our attention with its carved crest featuring a gardening hat and two pine cone-accented staffs resting on delicate laurel leaves. The frame is topped with carved foliage motifs with tassels standing out on a painted ground, and is decorated with petite beads surrounding a mirror plate with nice traces of aging. With its nice proportions and delicate décor, this Louis XVI period gilt, painted and carved wooden mirror circa 1780 will bring a touch of French refinement to any home, particularly hung above a commode, credenza or console table.
