SOLD - Pair of 1810 Swedish Period Gustavian Three-Drawer Commode with Light Grey Paint

SOLD - A pair of Swedish Gustavian period three-drawer painted commodes with dentil molding from the early 19th century. Each of this pair of Swedish chests features a rectangular top with protruding canted corners in the front, sitting above a cornice adorned with a delicate dentil molding running around the three sides. Three dovetailed drawers make up the rest of the façade and are simply adorned with round hardware. Following the direction of the canted corners, the fluted side posts lead the eye to the short fluted tapering feet that are also angled in the front but in a straight position in the back. With their soft grey color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for light color palettes aiming at brightening up homes during the dark long winters, and the purity of their lines, this pair of period Gustavian chest-of-drawers circa 1810 will complement any decor beautifully.
