SOLD - French, 1830s Louis XVI Trumeau Mirror with Musical Trophy and Original Glass

A French Louis XVI style natural wood trumeau mirror with musical trophy and original glass from the mid-19th century. This French wooden trumeau mirror features a simple, linear Silhouette marked by two paint-accented pilasters, reminiscent of the Neoclassical taste for antiquity-inspired decorative vocabulary. A cream colored rectangular molding frames the original mirror. This apparent simplicity is however perfectly contrasted by the exquisite carved motif in the crest: set within a roped frame, a ribbon-tied musical trophy, comprising a lute, wind instruments and a score amidst floral motifs, are here to symbolize liberal arts. This is the very definition of refinement: simplicity combined with elegance, allowing the rest of the décor to shine beautifully. We are envisioning this French trumeau mirror, circa 1830 placed above an enfilade, a console table or a credenza.
