SOLD - Pair of French Louis XV Style Walnut Bedside Tables with Drawers and Open Shelf PENT

A pair of French Louis XV style walnut bedside tables from the early 20th century. This pair of French 'tables de chevet' was created in the early years of the 20th century, at a time when the country revisited the Rococo style that marked the reign of King Louis XV as a means to revive national pride and heritage. Each of these exquisite side tables features a serpentine tray top framed by a three-quarter gallery. While one of the tables is made of a single drawer sitting above an open compartment, the second table is adorned with three thin dovetailed drawers. The differences between them stop here as they are both decorated with carved side posts and a carved apron, raised on four tall and slender cabriole legs with hoofed feet, typical of the Louis XV period. The ensemble is delicate and elegant, with a beautiful patina and lines that will bring a touch of sophistication to any room, particularly a bedroom where they could be used to anchor a bed.
