SOLD French Maison Jansen Louis XVI Style Painted Bookcase with Lotiform Pilasters

SOLD A French Louis XVI style painted wood bookcase attributed to Maison Jansen with open shelves, lower doors and carved pilasters from the late 19th century. This French bibliothèque features a large cornice adorned with a Vitruvian scroll frieze, sitting above a double open-shelf section. The Neoclassical influence, typical of the Louis XVI period, is immediately recognizable in the presence of the frieze accompanied with lotiform pilasters, fluted in their upper section and reeded in their bottom part. The open shelves are perfect to display books or decorative objects. Two pull-out drawers separate the upper cabinet from the lower section, made of two doors, decorated with rectangular molded panels. The soft color palette is made of delicately contrasting colors. With its tall proportions, clean Neoclassical lines and elegant carved décor inspired by the Antiquity, this French Maison Jansen Louis XVI style bookcase circa 1890 will be an excellent choice for any living room, foyer or library.
