SOLD - 1760s French Louis XV Period Three-Drawer Walnut Serpentine Commode from Lyon

A French Louis XV period mid-18th century carved walnut three-drawer commode from Lyon. This French chest-of-drawers was born in the later years of the reign of King Louis XV in one of the main centers of silk weaving, Lyon. Featuring a rectangular top with serpentine front, the commode is made of three hand-cut dovetailed drawers. Each drawer, echoing the sinuous lines of the top, is adorned with carved cartouches framing the hardware and decorated with floral motifs. The Rococo hardware complements the walnut structure beautifully. The sides are simply made of raised panels. The commode comprises a scalloped apron on its three front sides and is raised on four scrolled feet. With its exquisite walnut patina, elegant lines and refined yet not overdone décor, this French Lyonnaise three-drawer commode, circa 1760 will be an excellent choice for any bedroom, living room or foyer.
