A French Louis XV period wooden bookcase from the mid-18th century, with chicken wire doors and scrolled panels. Born in France during the reign of King Louis XV nicknamed the Bien-Aimé (the Beloved), this exquisite wooden bookcase features a large molded cornice overhanging two doors adorned with scrolled accents and chicken wire. A central vertical panel, decorated with a delicate foliage and topped with a lovely heart flanked with cartouches, separates the two doors from one another. Fitted with Rococo style hardware, the doors open to inner shelves offering great storage opportunities. The curving side posts, accented with petite flowers, lead our eye to the side panels decorated with recessed panels. With its graceful décor and lovely wooden patina, this French Louis XV period bookcase circa 1740, will bring an elegant presence to any living room, office or library.
