SOLD - Swedish Blue Painted Buffet with Drop-Leaf Table Attached, Circa 1858

A Swedish blue painted buffet with attached drop-leaf table from the mid 19th century. This uncommon Swedish buffet features a two-plank rectangular top sitting above a single drawer and two doors painted in their original blue color. The nicely dovetailed drawer shows a lot of wood coming through with slight traces of the blue paint. The set of double doors, which locks thanks to a wooden latch, open to reveal two inner shelves. Ingeniously, a drop-leaf table is attached to the back of the buffet and rests on a gateleg when opened. With its table-top opened, the back of the buffet reveals a painted date: 1858. The overall depth of the whole piece when the top is up is 45.25"D. The buffet's depth when the top is down is 18.5"D. This Swedish buffet is a definite problem solver and could be placed anywhere in a home, bringing a rustic appeal to any room.
