SOLD - Swedish Painted Wood Gustavian Style Sideboard, circa 1860 with Reeded Diamonds

A Swedish Gustavian style painted wood sideboard from the mid 19th century, with canted sides and diamond motifs. Born Sweden during the third quarter of the 19th century, this elegant painted sideboard features a rectangular shaped top, sitting above a perfectly organized façade with canted sides. Three handcut dovetailed drawers each adorned with a molded frame surrounding a recessed panel, are resting on tall doors, adorned with elongated diamonds presenting reeded patterns. These four doors open to reveal inner shelves offering great storage possibilities while the piece is raised on simple block feet. The sideboard is painted in a light color, typical of the Scandinavian taste for soft palettes aiming at brightening the homes of Sweden during the long winters. Its nicely weathered appearance reveals the history and age of the piece. With its clean Gustavian style lines and proportions, this Swedish painted sideboard circa 1860 will bring a touch of relaxed elegance to any home, particularly placed in a living room or dining room.
