SOLD - French 1790s Louis XVI Three-Drawer Commode with Faded White Patina and Fluting

A French Louis XVI period three-drawer commode from the late 18th century with faded white patina and fluted side posts. Born at the end of the reign of King Louis XVI just after the French revolution, this commode features a rectangular top with canted corners in the front and beveled edges, sitting above three elegant dovetailed drawers. Each drawer is adorned with a thin frame, surrounding the classical hardware made of two ring pulls flanking an oval escutcheon with Louis XVI knot. The three locks work thanks to a single key. Following the angling of the top's corners, the side posts are canted and adorned with fluted motifs while the sides are adorned with molded frames and simply raised panels. The commode is raised on four feet, the front ones bring tapered and angled while the back ones are straight. A linear carved skirt connects the feet to one another on three sides. With its clean lines and soft white patina, this French Louis XVI commode circa 1790 will bring a discreet elegance to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or foyer.
